The German Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will be a showcase of innovation and research, presented in a campus concept: “CAMPUS GERMANY”. In a natural follow-on from its Energy Lab, Future City Lab and Biodiversity Lab, cultural events at the pavilion will take place in the Culture Lab. From 1 October 2021, this will be the place to discover Germany’s cultural diversity. As at the last world exhibition (EXPO Milano 2015), agency VOSS+FISCHER have partnered with music and culture manager Mike P. Heisel to deliver the cultural programme for the German Pavilion.
The Culture Lab will play host to six different types of “session”, featuring music, dance, visual arts, gaming, sport and science. The programme will mainly feature the brightest young stars from each of these segments but there will also be special performances by established, world-famous names.
Taking its cue from the Expo’s theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, the Culture Lab sets out to provide a platform for interaction and connection across cultures. The organisers will be teaming up with a range of partners, including (higher) education institutions and organisations committed to nurturing young talent, to put together a varied, engaging programme. As well as portraying a genuine, open image of Germany, the performances on the multifunctional stage of the German Pavilion’s atrium will be an opportunity for audiences to connect as a community.
